All About Me “I” Template | Back-to-School Getting to Know You Activity

Kick off the school year with a meaningful All About Me activity that helps students introduce themselves through words that describe who they are!

Inspired by the idea of a “Writer’s I,” this activity asks students to brainstorm nouns and adjectives that represent themselves and arrange their favorite words inside an “I” template. It’s a simple, creative way for students to reflect on their interests, personalities, families, hobbies, and the things that make them unique.

I like to model the activity first by brainstorming words about myself with the class. Students then create their own “I” and personalize it with words that tell their story.

The finished projects make a great back-to-school classroom or hallway display and are especially fun to have up for Open House or Back-to-School Night. Students and families love reading them and learning more about one another!
